Snacks for Later

If you're new here, check out my first post: Twas the Night Before Braces...

Dear Journal,

Well my mom’s new favorite thing to say is,

"Are you saving that for later?"

No, Mom.
I'm not. It’s just stuck in my braces.

Yes, Journal,  it's food stuck under my wire.

It’s very hard to not get certain types of food stuck under my wire.  The worst are pizza, bread, and apples. It's really like little chunks of food.  I guess I could be saving it.

I just want to take a moment and point out that it is very annoying. Then, if Mom sees it she says,

“Is that for later?"

Sure Mom, I guess we can say that.

Enough of that.
Now let me tell you about the care I have to do!

First things first.
In the mornings,  I brush my teeth after breakfast. During the day, every time I eat something, I rinse with water and try to get everything out from under my wires. Then, at night I brush them again and fluoride them I can't eat or drink for 30 minutes but I’m going to bed anyway. I don't need anything to eat or drink. It seemed like a lot at first, but really, it isn't that much more than what I normally did! The biggest difference is making sure there are no leftovers stuck on my teeth!

Pain?
Nope. My teeth do not hurt anymore and when I eat, I forget my braces are on!

Mom just made me a travel kit that I can clip to my purse when we go out to eat.

It has a travel tooth brush, tooth paste, little brushes to get food out from under my wire, floss and a little mirror. It works great!  I can use it in the car on the way home or before we get out to go in somewhere!  I think this will keep me from having to hear about my snacking so often!

This metal mouth thing is going to be a marathon, not a race.  It's a little more than 2 weeks in and I'm glad I'm used to the feeling of braces! Until next time journal!
Peace out, Cub Scout!

  1. When I had braces, anything that was bread like in substance would always get stuck under the wires, which was gross. I started tearing my breads, sandwiches, etc, into bite sized pieces instead of biting them. Then, I just chewed it with my back teeth. It helped a little. At least no one saw if anything was stuck in my teeth. :D
